What Is Pre Schematic Stage

By | March 21, 2023

Pre-schematic stage is the earliest stage of language acquisition for children, during which they begin forming a basic understanding of speech and the concepts associated with it. This is an important stage in a child's development as it is when they start to build the foundations of communication.

At this stage, the child has yet to gain control over their own vocal cords, or even form full words. They can, however, make some rudimentary sounds, such as babbling or cooing. This vocalization is used to convey basic emotions, and it is during this period that the child begins to pick up on social cues related to language. Additionally, babies at this stage are able to differentiate between familiar and unfamiliar faces and voices.

It is during pre-schematic stage that the foundations of language are laid. At this stage, the child is exposed to the sounds of their native language, and they start to recognize patterns and associate words with their meanings. For example, they may start to understand the difference between a happy and a sad tone of voice, or may begin to associate certain words with ground objects or people.

By the end of this stage, a child should be able to point to objects when given the name for them, correctly identify basic objects and colors, and be able to follow simple instructions. In addition, the child's memory should be well developed enough for them to recall certain information more easily. Most children reach the end of pre-schematic stage by the time they are two years old.

At this stage, it is important for parents and caregivers to be patient and consistent with the child, as this will help them make the most of their potential. Exposing the child to different tones of voice, providing clear instructions, and reading to them are all excellent ways to encourage language development.

In conclusion, pre-schematic stage is an important stage of language development for children. During this stage, they begin to form the foundations of communication, gaining an understanding of words, their meanings, and their proper usage. With patience and consistency from parents and caregivers, children at this stage can reach their full potential and go on to learn more complex concepts.
