A printed circuit board is essentially a flat, rigid panel composed of multiple materials, including copper, plastic and fiberglass. Not only do these packages reduce the size and weight of electrical devices, but they can also be mass-produced, greatly reducing their cost.
Though PCBs are often an overlooked element in the development of electrical equipment, they are an integral part of modern technology. Without them, today’s consumer-level electronics would not be possible. Not only do they allow for smaller and cheaper designs, but they also provide a durable platform for distributing electricity to various components. In short, printed circuit boards are a vital part of the world’s technological infrastructure.
